Thursday November 6th

I didn't feel like sleeping at all last night....so I didn't ! Dad was most unimpressed. I knew he was suffering with his back, but I played a guessing game with him about what was bothering me, and he finally gave up at 7am. Mum took over, then Annie & Emily arrived and I switched to angelic mode. Dad realised nobody believed what a hard night he'd had, but when he left the house at lunchtime with his passport , I began to get a bit concerned...
Brigid called in the afternoon, then Dr Norman, and then Tania & Beau,.... but still no Dad. I tried to suggest they organise a search party but as I had a dummy in my mouth I couldn't make myself heard. I took my mind off it by showing Beau my activity centre while Mum started banging saucepans together in the kitchen.

Finally, at around 6pm, Dad came home, with some mushrooms ! Phew !...It turned out he hadn't gone abroad to pick them though: he'd had to show his passport to collect a surprise for me from the people at Cow & Gate. A very nice lady had sent us a big parcel full of teddy bears, cuddly cows, and even a sling for Dad to carry me around on his back with. Excellent physiotherapy for him ! Thanks very much, C & G !

Meantime, Mum had cooked fresh coq-au-vin to cheer Dad up a bit. It smelt delicious and went very well with the bottle of wine Annie had brought. I tried to sample some, but very quickly found myself confined-to-cot....
