Monday 13th October
Jambo ! Habari ? Mum's been
teaching me a few words of Swahili - as well as Toto, she calls me her Miani.
Sometimes, I think she wishes she was back in Tanzania at the moment, so that
she could call her " Halima ! " every time I leave her a present in
my nappy....
Anyway, as it happens, we did get some help today. Yet another nurse, Rhiann,
came with Brigid to look after me so that Mum could sleep for a few hours in the
afternoon. We all thought that was a great idea. Rhiann gave me a bath &
washed my hair, and I slept for a while, too...
13 is not really our favourite number these days, even though I was made on
Friday the 13th, at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford! We made it through
the day without too many things going wrong, though, except for the shower pump,
which broke.
Dad was nearly at the end of his tether as well as his 7 day shift, so I decided
to help out. I knew Uncle Dave was good at plumbing so I called him round for a
Guinness. When he arrived, I showed him where the spanners were. He's much
stronger than me and tried very hard, but in the end I had to give him a
hand...my small hands proved to be quite useful !

We also
had some lovely surprises today from far-away countries. Mum was crying a bit.
Uncle Peter & Aunty Salina sent some great clothes all the way from
Thailand, and Uncle Dave's sister Penny
& her family sent me a really nice card from the USA, which everyone had
written in. Soraya & Iain, from Paris were passing through London too, and I
haven't seen them since I was less than a week old ! Mum & Dad were looking
forward to taking me to all these countries, but for now it's just so nice to
know that people all over the place are thinking of me...
