Thursday 30th Octotober

Mum & Dad are both poorly now, I really hope they get better before tomorrow, when we're due for another break at my favourite holiday resort, Christophers. That very much left Grandad holding the baby, and the fort, today, until Alison was due to arrive in the afternoon. I was getting agitated too, because I'd been busy briefing Grandad on all the jobs I had for him to do. I knew that there was a bit of plywood in the garage left over from Dad's old trainset, and I'd asked him to build a box to cover the shower pump I'd installed with Dave's help last week. Grandad tried to blind me with science, muttering that he'd have to work out the measurements for an optimum size box by means of a "differential calculator" whilst trying to eat his pencil. I told him it would be far simpler to use integral calculus. I must have confused him because he decided to paint the computer desk instead. That's the trouble with accountants.

At lunchtime Doctor Norman knocked on the door. I thought it was too early for trick or treat, but I discovered to my horror that he had a big needle hidden in his bag. Mum was more scared than me, actually. He'd stuck it into me before I had a chance to begin negotiating, but it only hurt a bit and I really just screamed for effect.  Alison arrived to restore order again and between us we managed to send everyone out for a while. Dad had run out of batteries so he couldn't tell what time it was, and he can't even take any pictures of me for a while.
In the evening Annie came over, which meant Mum was able to sleep for a while. Uncle Dave came to see me as well, and even he was looking tired. Annie looked after us all fantastically - she made the world's best fry-up for the boys, as well as polishing the table and ironing dad's clothes. What a star ! Thanks Auntie Annie...
