Thursday 20th November
The day started badly when I forgot my breathing again just before 7am. Dad had only been in bed for 2 hours, and he almost fell down the stairs again in his haste to get to me before his eyes opened ! It seems I've reverted to my nocturnal activity pretty quickly now that Adeline's no longer in charge, and I'm completely docile when Brigid's here by day...
Anyway, things could only really get better after that point, and I was charmed to make the acquaintance of Christine, from Social Services, in the morning. She was most surprised at my grasp of Swahili, when I welcomed her with my customary "Jambo"....and it then turned out that we share some of the same Tanzanian roots, as it turned out she comes from Dar es Salaam, just round the corner from Mum & Bharat-mama's place. How about that for a coincidence ?!

While all this was going on, another Council delegation arrived
in the street - with a JCB ! By now Dad was out of his depth with the Swahili
and increasingly desperate to find his earplugs, which I'd kindly hidden. After
hitting his computer for a while, he finally managed a few hours rest.
Uncle Dave came to visit me in the evening and tried to show me how to fall
asleep on the sofa, but I didn't have the advantage of a Guinness inside me like
he did. I had a quick chat with him before advising him to get some kip before
his early shift.
